What were some forms of imperialism

History

Here are the four basic types of imperialism :)

The Colony:

A territory or piece of land governed directly by a foreign power. The governing power may exercise direct rule through soldiers and officials, forcing the natives into submission, or the power may exercise indirect rule, administering the colony through the native aristocracy and westernizing the upper-class.

Direct:

In a direct rule, a colony would be governed by foreign officials while no self-rule was given to natives. The goal was assimilation of the colony into an empire. Government institutions were based on European governments. The Belgian King Leopold II practiced the most brutal style of direct rule in the Belgian Congo. Almost 10,000,000 Congolese were killed in his entire rule. France also often practiced direct rule of her colonies. Vietnam, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia are notable examples.

Indirect:

In an indirectly ruled colony, local government officials might be used, while the native upper-class was given limited self-rule over the colony. The goal was to Westernize future leaders of a colony in order to perpetuate a power’s control. This was accomplished in Raj India under the British East India Tea Company until the Sepoy Rebellion. After the rebellion was put down, the British Government assumed direct rule over the colony.

The Sphere-of-Influence:

When a foreign power exercises control over another country’s trade and economy. China was divided into various spheres-of -influence by European powers so that they could obtain exclusive trade rights with Chinese ports. Often, Europeans would abuse trade with China because of Extraterritoriality rights granted to Europe.

Economic Imperialism:

As a relatively hidden form of rule, Economic Imperialism is practiced when a private company controls a less developed country. Early examples include the Dole Fruit Company controlling Hawaii before it became a state, the East India Tea Company’s control of Raj India, and The Congo Free State’s issuing of permits to businesses for exclusive rights to land and people.

State two ways the 17th amendment addressed the concern expressed in the cartoon.
frutty [35]

Answer:

The two ways the 17th Amendment addressed the concern expressed in the cartoon is by establishing the election of senators by popular vote. In the original articles of the Constitution, senators were elected by state legislators. This was a political cartoon supporting the 17th Amendment. It portrayed the amendment as a path to Democracy once covered by obstacles and/ or boulders. The 17th Amendment - The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people there of, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislators. When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided that the legislator may direct. This Amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.

Who are mauriyan rulers?

Chandragupta Maurya founded the Maurya Empire, also known as the Mauryan Empire, in 322 BCE, and it lasted until 185 BCE in a loosely organized state. It was a geographically vast ancient Indian Iron Age literal power in South Asia with its center in Magadha.

The Indo-Gangetic Plain was forced under the control of the Maurya Empire, whose megacity capital was Pataliputra ( ultramodern Patna).

The loyalty of the military leaders in charge of the fortified metropolises that dot the conglomerate's territory outside of this Homeric nucleus determined its geographic reach.

Following the submission of a portion of India by Alexander the Great, the Mauryan Empire was founded in 321 BCE.

Three important emperors served as the strong leaders are Chandragupta Maurya (321–298 BCE), Bindusara (298–272 BCE), and Ashoka (272- 232 BCE).

Brilliant_brown [7]

Correct answer:

refuse to vote in elections.

The National Congress of India was the first modern nationalist movement that emerged in the British Empire. The congress became an independent Indian movement under Mahatma Gandhi, who was the main leader. The National Congress of the Indian asked citizens not to vote in the elections, so the ministries of Congress resigned in October to declare on the belligerence of India in its decisions without counting the Indian people.
