Small farmers in Colombia have a hard time producing enough crops to feed their family because the majority of small farmers only focus on growing single cash crop.
These small farmers do not practice technological farming nor do they have big enough lands to grow more crops.
EXPLANATION:
Most of them grow bananas, cocoa, tobacco, corn, coffee, etc. and they sell those crops to sustain life.
Colombia is a country in South America where agriculture contributes hugely to the economy.
It is also the 4th biggest coffee exporter in the world including cash crops which the farmers sell for profit.
Colombia’s main agricultural products are coffee, cocoa, livestock, sugar, palm oil, etc.
I personally believe it’s because they’re all about the money they’ll make. if it costs extra to set the precautions they most likely wouldn’t do it and they’ll just see the consequences and pass off the blame
