 Hello there!

To find the zeros or the roots of a function, you just need to set the function equal to 0 then solve for x.

f(x) = (x + 4)² - 9

Set function equal to 0

(x + 4)² - 9 = 0

x² + 8x + 7 = 0

Now we can factor the left side

(x + 1)(x + 7) = 0

Then set factors equal to 0

x + 1 = 0 or x + 7 = 0

x = 0 - 1 or x = 0 - 7

x = -1 or x = -7

Thus,

The zeroes of the function are -1 and -7

A student cost for last semester at her community college was $3000. She spent $540 of that on books. What percent of last semes
eduard
Hi there!
We can set up a ratio to model the problem...
540/3000 = x/100
Now, just cross multiply and solve for x.
54000 = 3000x
x = 18
Therefore, 18 percent of last semester's college costs was spent on books. Hope this helped and have a great day!

How do I solve this?
Ghella [55]

Answer:

The other end point is (-3,5)

Step-by-step explanation:

For two points (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2)

The mid point(x,y)=((x_1+x_2)/2,(y_1+y_2)/2)

For the mid point  (x,y)=(-1,1)

and (x_1,y_1)=(1,-3)

(x_2,y_2)=?

(-1,1)=((1+x_2)/2,(-3+y_2)/2)

(1+x_2)/2=-1\\\\1+x_2=-2\\\\x_2=-2-1\\\\x_2=-3

And

(-3+y_2)/2=1\\\\-3+y_2=2\\\\y_2=2+3\\\\y_2=5\\

So, the other end point is (-3,5)

The graph of f(x) = (0.5) is replaced by the graph of g(x) = (0.5)x - k. If g(x) is obtained by shifting f(x) down by 3 units, t
cricket20 [7]

Recall that the the vertical shifting of functions is associated with the numerical value that is added to the original one. A possitive value k will shift the function k units up, and a negativa value (or subtracting k) will move it vertically down k units.

If I understand correctly, you forgot to type an "x"in the original function f(x), which should read:

f(x) = 0.5 x

Correct?

The new graph is g(x) = 0.5 x - k which is obtained by shifting the original f(x) DOWN by 3 units.

In order to shift the graph of f(x) DOWN three units, we need to SUBTRACT 3 from f(x), leading to : 0.5 x - 3

Therefore, the value of "k"in the given g(x) = 0.5 x - k must be 3.

which agrees with the last option in your list (option D)
