Answer:

Photosynthesis is divided into two sub-parts light reaction and dark reaction.

Light reaction of the photosynthesis takes place in the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast. The photolysis of water takes place in this reaction which results in the formation of ATP and NADPH. Oxygen is released as the byproduct.

Dark reaction takes place in the stroma of the chloroplast in which ATP and NADPH are used to fix carbon (obtained from carbon dioxide) into sugars (glucose).

Six molecules of carbon dioxide, 9 molecules of ATP, and 6 molecules of NADPH are consumed in order to produce one molecule of glucose.

The overall reaction is:

6CO₂ + 6H₂O → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂

Describe the connection between glycerol, fatty acids and triglycerides.
Leya [2.2K]

Answer:

In a fat molecule, the fatty acids are attached to each of the three carbons of the glycerol molecule with an ester bond through the oxygen atom. During the ester bond formation, three molecules are released. Since fats consist of three fatty acids and a glycerol, they are also called triacylglycerols or triglycerides.
