Answer: SENSORY ADAPTATION

Explanation: Sensory adaptation also known as neural adaptation can be defined as a gradual decline over time in the sensory responsiveness of a constant stimulus. An example can be seen when the body gets used to the odour of an individual and the individual can no longer perceive their own odour or loud noise that the receptors decrease their sensitivity to the stimuli and make them less noticeable.

According to the ________, seeing a crocodile in the swamp would lead simultaneously to both the emotion fear and running away a
Natalija [7]

Answer:

Cannon-Bard theory of emotion; James-Lange theory of emotion.

Explanation:

As the exercise explains, if an individual sees a crocodile in the swamp he may be lead to feel fear whilst running away at the same time.  This is explained by the Cannon-Bard theory of emotion. But, on the opposite side, we have the James-Lange theory of emotion which states that the individual would be afraid because they are, in fact, running away. Basically, the Cannon-Bard theory states that we feel physiological consequences (such as sweat, accelerated heart rate, etc.) when we feel emotions, whereas the James-Lange theory states the opposite: we feel an emotion when we have the physiological effect (we feel fear because we are running, sweating, with our hearth accelerated, etc.).

Is globalization a danger to local cultures? Why, or why not?
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

Yes

Explanation:

Globalization is a huge danger to local cultures because it can rob them of their identify by imposing a fit-for-all culture known all over the world.

Local cultures prosper because they are local and unique, far away from the global influence. Globalization brings people together but it also makes them all look alike because they are exposed to the same influences, in culture, business or politics. Some local tradition may become too old fashioned for many to be still followed and they may disappear, especially if the young people reject them because they don't seem attractive any longer. To prevent local culture, some rituals have to be maintained and pass over to the next generation, globalization jeopardizes this process and some local cultures may become extinct in the end.
