A geyser is a geological feature that is commonly formed in a volcanically active region, where the hot water erupts periodically through the fissures and vents on the surface of the earth. The water in this region is heated up as it comes in contact with the hot rocks. Moreover, the geothermal gradient also facilitates the warming up of the water. This water then rises upward due to its lesser density through the porous cracks and fissures and thereby erupts on the surface.
