52 cards in a deck
4 cards of 10
and 12 cards of face (J, Q and K)
so 10 or face cards = 4 + 12 = 16

Probability to  select a 10 or face = 16/52 = 4/13

The fee to check luggage with anew arline is based on the weightof each bag. Brett paid $7.14 tocheck a 42-pound bag. Howmuch wi
rodikova [14]

$10.71

Explanation

Step 1

you can easily solve this by using a rule of three.

Let

x represents the money Eileen will pay if her bag weighs 63 pounds

the proportion is the same

then

\frac{7.14}{42}=\frac{x}{63}

Step 2

solve for x

\begin{gathered} \frac{7.14}{42}=\frac{x}{63} \\ 63\cdot7.14=42x \\ x=\frac{63\cdot7.14}{42} \\ x=\frac{449.82}{42} \\ x=10.71 \\  \end{gathered}

I hope this helps you

Answer:

Solutions: x = \frac{-3}{ 4} + i \sqrt{39},  x = \frac{-3}{4} - i \sqrt{39}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the quadratic equation, 2x² + 3x + 6 = 0, where a =2, b = 3, and c = 6:

Use the <u>quadratic equation</u> and substitute the values for a, b, and c to solve for the solutions:

x = \frac{-b +/- \sqrt{b^{2} - 4ac} }{2a}

x = \frac{-3 +/- \sqrt{3^{2} - 4(2)(6)} }{2(2)}

x = \frac{-3 +/- \sqrt{9- 48} }{4}

x = \frac{-3 +/- \sqrt{-39} }{4}

x = \frac{-3 + i \sqrt{39} }{4}, x = \frac{-3 - i \sqrt{39} }{4}

Therefore, the solutions to the given quadratic equation are:

x = -\frac{3}{ 4} + i \sqrt{39} ,   x = -\frac{3}{4} - i \sqrt{39}

A total of 585 tickets were sold for the school play. They were either adult tickets or student tickets. There were 65 fewer stu
natulia [17]

Answer:

325

Step-by-step explanation:

Total Tickets = 585

Let the adult tickets be = x

If 65 fewer student tickets were sold than adult tickets then Student tickets = x-65

Student Tickets + Adult Tickets = 585

x + (x-65) = 585

x + x - 65 = 585

2x - 65 = 585

2x = 585 + 65

2x = 650

2x/2 = 650/2

x = 325
