First thing to note is that both equations equal y, and therefore equal each other. Set this up as so:
x + 4 = - 2x - 2
Next, you will move all integers to one side, and variables to the other, also known as isolating.
Add 2 to both sides and subtract x from both sides. It will give you this:
6 = - 3x
Now divide both sides by - 3
- 2 = x

You may choose whichever equation you would like to plug x into. For a more simplistic way, choose the first one.

y = - 2 + 4
y = 2

With both x and y, you have your solution: (-2,2)

Lenny Lendee purchased a snowblower for $199.95. He paid 25% down and agreed to pay $14.99 for 12 months.
Ganezh [65]
$199.95 x 25% = $199.95 x .25 = $49.9875 ~ $49.99
$199.95 - 49.99 = $149.96 (actual balance) If Lenny pay $14.99 for 12 months the total payment would be: $14.99 x 12 =$179.88
Lenny would have paid an additional amount of $29.92 ($179.88 - 149.96) after making the final payment.

I hope this helps since you did not mention what you were calculating, so I include everything that can be done to this problem.
