Jimmie Davis served two nonconsecutive terms as legislative head of Louisiana, from 1944 to 1948 and from 1960 to 1964. In his second term, Davis managed the state as the social equality development tested conventional race relations. A segregationist, he bolstered the division of high contrast understudies in the state-funded schools.
