If the lines px = 12 and 2x + qy = 10 intersects at (1 , 1), what is the value of p + q?
shusha [124]

Answer:

p + q = 20

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the lines intersect at (1, 1 ) then x = 1 and y = 1 make the equations true.

Consider

px = 12 with x = 1

p = 12

Consider

2x + qy with x = 1 and y = 1

2 + q = 10 ( subtract 2 from both sides )

q = 8

Hence p + q = 12 + 8 = 20

mrs.jackson gives the table below to her students in order for the function to be linear what must m be and why?
Hunter-Best [27]

M or the slope has to be constant throughout the graph. This is because in order for a line to be linear it has to be increasing or decreasing at the same rate. So it the slope was 2 from point x 1 -2 then the slope changed to 1 from 3-4 it would not be linear. :)
