Sessue Hayakawa was the first foreign actor to get success in US.

Explanation:

In the 1920's US was a lot less race tolerant than it is right now so it was a miracle of sorts for Sessue Hayakawa to be able to achieve the massive stardom he did achieve during the silent era of films.

He became one of the biggest stars of the country for whom the crowd wold flock to the theaters and as such commanded a great influence among the people.

He opened the gates for more foreign actors in American films.

Tanya [424]

Answer:

The correct option is C) Evaluating the argument and forming a conclusion based on the evidence.

Explanation:

An important step in critical thinking is evaluating the argument being made. The claim put forward by Sarah has no evidence and is a general statement made by Wikipedia. Of course, the emotions of every person present on Earth cannot be surveyed and the claim is made without proper evidence.

Jake's claim is based on evaluation of the argument and lack of evidence by Sarah and hence, it is an element of critical thinking.

explain what thoreau finds wrong with the majority rule. What does he say is the only obligation he has the right to assume?
Shtirlitz [24]

Explanation: Thoreau was a philosopher, writer and devotee of nature. His philosophy was based on independence, freedom of mind. He felt that the government was restricting people from taking care of themselves, their needs. He was not an anarchist but believed in minimal, almost no governmental restrictions.

He considered the rule of the majority is not good, because it implied the compulsion of having to go with the group and follow the rules of the group, which was restrictive for him. The only obligation, according to Thoreau, was to follow his conscience. That way, he would only do what he thought was right, and he would be obliged to do only what was right.
