When a figure is translated on a coordinate grid, then the position of the image only changes.

<span>The attached picture demonstrates the shifting or translation of a triangle by six units to the right. It is concluded that only the position of the image is changed, while size, orientation and shape remained the same.  </span>

Calculate the distance between points
Elena L [17]

The distance would be, ((x1-x2)^2+(y1-y2)^2)^0.5

x1=-7,y1=9, x2=-4,y2=2

hence distance = sqrt(9+49) = sqrt (58) = 7.615773106

The difference between the roots of the quadratic equation x2+x+c=0 is 6. Find c.
NemiM [27]
We have that
x_{1} - x_{2} = 6
Let y be the first root, then y - 6 will be the second one. Since both roots make the quadratic equation equal to 0, we have that:
y^{2}  + y + c =  (y - 6)^{2}  + (y - 6) +c
Solve for y:
y^{2} +y +c = y^{2} - 12y + 36 + y - 6 +c \\ y + 12y - y = 30 \\ y =  \frac{5}{2}
Plug in y = 5/2 into original quadratic equation and solve for c:
(  \frac{5}{2}) ^{2} +  \frac{5}{2}  +c = 0 \\  c= - \frac{5}{2}  -  \frac{25}{4}  \\ c = - \frac{35}{4}
So, the answer is c = -35/4

Can someone help me answer a few of these? Thank you! :)
sesenic [268]
I’m going to try to answer these to the best of my ability.

1. Plane D
2. Plane C
3. AB
4. No
5. I don’t believe so because it doesn’t look like C is on the same plane as a AB and D.
6. I think so, yes! Collinear means that they are on the same line, and it looks like if you put a line between those two to connect them, they would connect perfectly!
7. B possibly? Because it looks like B, C, and D are all collinear and that they would pass through a straight line. A doesn’t look like it’s collinear with the rest of them.
8. No
9. Yes
10. Yes

I’m sorry if any of those are wrong, but I did make sure to try and put some explanations for some of them so you saw why I gave the answer that I gave! I hope that helped and like I said, I’m sorry if any of them are wrong, I tried my best!
