Answer:

The endosymbiotic theory is an evolutionary theory states the evolution of eukaryotic cell from the prokaryotic cells.

It was stated 1905 and 1910 by the Russian botanist. It holds mitochondrial plastids such as chloroplast and possibly the other organelles of the eukaryotic cells represents formerly free-living prokaryotes living one inside the other inside the body of prokaryotes.

The formation of eukaryotic organelles took place when the organelles of the prokaryotic cells combined together.

Which are typical pioneer species during primary succession?
JulijaS [17]

Answer & explanation:

Primary succession occurs in environments that did not have biological communities in place and present unfavorable conditions for the establishment of life. Examples of these sites are rocks, dunes and newly solidified lava pits.

The pioneer organisms in primary succession are mainly producers and some decomposers.

In dune environments, for example, there are grasses, whose seeds are wind-borne and able to withstand excessive heat, water scarcity and unstable soil, and their roots are firm, preventing these plants from being harmed by the wind.

Sites with rocky surfaces can be colonized by photosynthetic bacteria, fungi or some species of algae. These organisms release substances that alter the substrate, allowing the installation of new species over time.

What was the purpose of adding methotrexate to the cells expressing a genetically-engineered Dihydrofolate Reductase enzyme in t
ira [324]

Answer:

Methotrexate inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis of the cells in the experiment.

Explanation:

Methotrexate competitively inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) which is involved in the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate from the inactive dihydrofolate. The methotrexate blocks the enzyme by binding to its active site thereby preventing further reaction of the dihydrofolate reductase enzyme and dihydrofolate. Tetrahydrofolate is a useful material for the de novo synthesis of thymidine, a nucleoside. And without thymidine, DNA synthesis is hindered. Methotrexate therefore inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, thymidylates and of course protein synthesis.
