If a 12 oz bottle of shampoo lasted for 16 weeks, we have a ratio of 12:16 which can be shortened to 3:4.

Now if we have 18 oz bottle we know that it's 1/2 more than 12 oz bottle, so the ratio will be also 1/2 more. So if it was 12:16, the new ratio will be:

12 + (1/2 * 12) : 16 + (1/2 * 16)
12 + 6 : 16 + 8
18 : 24

It means that 18 oz bottle should last for 24 weeks. Of course the ratio has to stay the same in its lowest form in both situations and as 18:24 can be shortened to 3:4, it proves it's correct :)

Stells [14]

Based on the calculation below, the balance on Neela's statement is $153.

How do we calculate the balance on a bank statement?

The balance on Neela's statement can be calculated using the following formula:

Balance on statement = Actual amount in the account - Monthly fee - Overdraft protection fee - Check written + Amount transferred ............ (1)

Substituting all the relevant values into equation (1), we have:

Balance on statement = $256 - $8 - $33 - $312 + $250

What is the reciprocal of 6/5?
A. 1
B. 1 1/5
C. 12/10
D. 5/6
Sergio039 [100]
The reciprocal of 6/5 is D. 5/6

Reciprocal simply means swapping the position of the numbers in the fraction. The numerator becomes the denominator and the denominator becomes the numerator.

We need to get reciprocal of a fraction when division is performed.

For example: 2 ÷ 1/5

2 may be a whole number but in fraction form it is 2/1.

1st fraction = 2/1
2nd fraction = 1/5

In dividing fractions, the 1st step we need to do is to get the reciprocal of the 2nd fraction.

1/5 ⇒ 5/1

Then, we multiply the 1st fraction to the reciprocal of the 2nd fraction.
2/1 * 5/1 = 10

So, 2 ÷ 1/5 = 10
