I dont have a source but what i can tell you is that the rome was a very powerful empire that took over a lot for its own benefit especially in its economic ways .

Rome ruled the entire Mediterranean region. My source is from the textbook "History Alive!" chapter 34. Rome expanded around the Italian peninsula and took over Most of Europe, North Africa, Egypt, Syria, and Asia Minor through an almost constant state of war.
