Answer: The correct answer is A) Puberty in the offspring.

Blastocyst is a structure of cells that is formed after five days of fertilization. It possesses an outer layer of cells called trophoblast ( that forms major part or the placenta to provide nutrition to the developing embryo) and an inner cell mass ( that forms the whole embryo).

It is implanted in the uterus after the zona pellucida ( layer outside blastocyst) is broken down.

Pregnancy is divided into three trimester with three months in each trimester.

As blastocyst is the structure that is implanted in the uterus, therefore it is associated with the first trimester of pregnancy.

1. A study is being done to test the effects of habitat space on the size of fish populations. Different sized aquariums are set
Kruka [31]

Answer:

a. Independent Variable: different sized aquariums

b. Dependent Variable: number of surviving fish

c. Controlled Variables/Constants: amount and type of food, aquarium maintenance and water temperature

d. Experimental Controls/Control Groups: none

Explanation:

In an experiment, the dependent variable is the condition that is being measured or tested in the experimental procedure, while the independent variable isn't changed and serves to measure the outcome of the dependent variable. Moreover, the constant variables are those conditions that stay the same in the experiment. As observed in the case above described, an experiment usually has multiple constant variables. Finally, a control group is composed of individuals/research subjects who do not receive the experimental treatment, and therefore they can be used to compare the outcomes observed in the experimental groups.

Why did Darwin’s observations of Galápagos tortoises cause him to wonder how species originate?
sdas [7]
<span>While at the Galapagos islands, he noticed that animals on the different islands differed. For example, the giant tortoises on one island had saddle-shaped shells, while those on another island had dome-shaped shells. People who lived on the islands could even tell the island a turtle came from by its shell. This started Darwin thinking about the origin of the species. He wondered how each island came to have its own type of tortoise.
