(MC)The excerpt below comes from instructions issued by President William McKinley to diplomats negotiating a peace treaty with

Spain:
It is my wish that throughout the negotiations entrusted to the Commission the purpose and spirit with which the United States accepted the unwelcome necessity of war
should be kept constantly in view. We took up arms only in obedience to the dictates of humanity and in the fulfillment of high public and moral obligations. We had no design
of aggrandizement and no ambition of conquest.

Answer:

Neutrality at the beginning of World War I

Explanation:

McKinley during his time as the president of the United States of America carried out actions that was bent on pushing American agenda in the international arena. He did this through his acts of aggressiveness, war, diplomacy and military show off.

Some of McKinley's actions which violated the spirit of the statement during peace treaty with Spain include :- his use of open door policy with china, invasion of Spain following Cuban war of independence. Also, taking possession of colonies in the Latin world such as the Philippines and Puerto Rico.

It is safe to conclude that, he would therefore have never conceived the idea of a neutral USA during the world war 1.

College board Discuss the political, economic, and social reforms introduced in the South between 1864 and 1877. To what extent
Alborosie

Answer:

The President elected, Rutherford B. Hayes, through the 1877 Compromise, ended the Reconstruction and withdrew federal troops from the south, paving the way for a return to racial repression against blacks and a return to white political and social supremacy across southern united states

However, since African Americans had already gained their freedom, little demand existed for the prolongation of northern military intervention in the South. The initial structure of the Human Rights Acts began to deteriorate rapidly. Many of the laws in the Civil Rights Acts were removed from the American government by the Supreme Court, near the end of the 19th century. In addition, the law that established the citizenship of African Americans would now apply to companies, instead of African Americans. A Congress instituted and controlled by southerners came to approve the total segregation of whites and African Americans, from public places to the conduct of commerce, thus effectively rejecting the Civil Rights Act of 1875.
