The middle colonies were mostly ports and industry as well as lumber, they built ships and the south was used for cash crops some examples of cash crops were cotton, tobacco, rice,wheat, rye, corn, barley,potatoes) and food and required the most slaves because it was the least populated

Native Americans didn't have the same idea of land ownership that white settlers held. Native Americans held the idea of territory, but the idea that one could "own" the land was outside of their understanding of how the world works.
