Epic poems have many characteristics. There is a "hero" who is important and has a significant ability or characteristic. There is usually a supernatural aspect, a villain of some kind, and an overlying theme.
There are also several technical aspects. The poet is usually objective, there is repetition in the wording, and an extended speech made by the "hero" is featured at some point.
C. Formal
Thanking each person individually and mentioning their names
is quite formal. Moreover, the other choices -- admiring, cordial and warm are
synonyms that show affection. In addition, if Myra is close to her classmates,
she could have used their nicknames and may even have hugged or touched them as
a sign of gratitude.
It
is written in the first person. The narrator Andy tells a story about
a family moving into town. The story is set in the mid to late 1900’s
in America. It is introduced in a dark, stormy atmosphere, but then
transitions into a beautiful quiet urban neighborhood. The theme of
this story is freedom.
