Frankenstein's Monster was very tall, had large hands and feet, with mottled green skin, stitches all over the body that kept him together, a blank, gaunt stare, raggedy clothing, and messy black hair.

Explanation:Shelley described Frankenstein's monster as an 8-foot-tall, hideously ugly creation, with translucent yellowish skin pulled so taut over the body that it “barely disguised the workings of the arteries and muscles underneath,” watery, glowing eyes, flowing black hair, black lips, and prominent white teeth

Is this a run-on sentence?
Sav [38]

Answer: No it is not a run-on sentence

At a first glance, the long length of the sentence seems to suggest it is a run-on. This is misleading because we basically have one thought being expressed. That thought is "you should try the soup".

The first part "If you have a hankering for a delicious bowl of soup" is the dependent clause which relies on the rest of the sentence (independent clause). The independent clause looks like a run-on all by itself, but it's just in the form of "you should try the soup made of x, y and z" where you replace the letters x,y,z with the ingredients listed. I'm paraphrasing this part of course. Another way you could paraphrase the whole thing is "if you are craving soup, then you should try french onion soup made of various ingredients". I'm sure you can probably get more creative.

Which sentence describes the etymology of a word?
Maurinko [17]

Answer:

A. In pedometer, ped comes from the Latin pedis, which means "foot."

Explanation:

Etymology is the study of the history of words. Basically, you want to find out the origins of the word. Therefore, A is the correct choice as it describes how the word "pedometer" came to be, originating from the Latin word meaning foot. Etymology is not the synonyms, definition, or pronunciation of a word and thus you can rule out B, C, and D.

Overall, either by ruling out choices or by the definition of etymology, A is the correct answer.
