The subject of a piece of literature can be defined as the topic, what the story is going to be about. The theme of the story is the idea that the author is trying to convey to the public.

In this story, the subject is abuse and a little dog, so the correct option for subject would be option B: "A little dog is taken into an abusive home". It is not option A because in the story, the little kid hits the dog, so he is not kind. Option E is also incorrect because the father does not give the dog to the kid, the child finds it on his own.

The theme of the story is about how abuse can be transmitted from parent to child. This is exemplified in the story because the father abuses his family and the dog, and when the child meets the dog, he also hits him, so he learned to be abusive. Therefore the correct answer would be option D: "Those who are abused learn to abuse the weak". Option C is incorrect because there is no mention of empathy in the story.

How will you adapt the report writing od skimmer
DaniilM [7]

The way to adapt a reading for a skimmer will be:

 • Employ bullet points in the article.
 • Use bold text for key points.
 • Stick to three or four bullet points.

How to illustrate the information?

It should be noted that when skimming, deliberately skip text which provides details, stories, data, or other elaboration.

Instead of closely reading every word, focus on the introduction, chapter summaries, first and last sentences of paragraphs, bold words, and text features.

To develop the idea, state the main point clearly and upfront. Then, place the most important information at the beginning or end of sentences and paragraphs and then highlight key dates or figures.

Read this excerpt from A Child’s History of England by Charles Dickens. What is most likely the main purpose of the text?
Elza [17]

Answer:

D. to inform.

Explanation:

In this passage, Dickens is trying to inform the reader about the location of the British Isles. We know he is not trying to express or persuade because he is stating a fact, not an opinion or an ideological position. It is possible he is trying to entertain, but this is unlikely to be the main purpose of the text, as it is not particularly funny or exciting. However, he seems interested in informing the reader, as he shares geographical facts in a detailed way.
