Answer:

The mileages for which company A charge less than company B when , y > 50 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The two truck companies have following prices

Company A

The initial fee = i = $110

And unlimited mileage

Company B

The initial fee = I = $65

Additional charge = $0.90 per mile driven

Let it driven x mile

Let The mileages for which company A charge less than company B = y

<u>Now, According to question</u>

Charges of company A = charges of company B

i.e i = I + 0.90 × x

Or, $110 = $65 + 0.90 × x

Or, $110 - $65 = 0.90 × x

Or, $45 = 0.90 × x

∴    x = \dfrac{45}{0.90}

i.e  x = 50

i.e  Company B driven x = 50 miles

So, The mileages for which company A charge less than company B = y

And y > x

i.e y > 50

Hence, The mileages for which company A charge less than company B when , y > 50 . Answer

Is this equation linear or nonlinear and why? Thanks
mylen [45]

This equation is not liner because the equation is not a straight line. At the point (0, 23) the equation bends.

Write an equation of the line that passes through (2, -5) and is parallel to the line 2y = 3x + 10
Zarrin [17]

First you get "y" by itself. To do so you divide 2 on both sides.

y = 3/2x + 5

To write an equation of a line that is PARALLEL to this equation, the slopes have to be the SAME. So the slope is 3/2.

You then use the equation:

y = mx + b

SInce you know "m" you plug it in.

y = 3/2x + b

Now you need to find b. To do so you plug in the point (2, -5) into this equation.

-5 = 3/2(2) + b

-5 = 3 + b

-8 = b

Finally you plug in b and you get your new equation.

y = 3/2x - 8

There are 10 rolls of film in a box and 3 are defective. Two rolls are to be selected without replacement. What is the probabili
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer:   \dfrac{1}{15}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Total rolls of film in the box = 10

Defective rolls =3

Probability of selecting first defective roll = \dfrac{\text{Number of bad rolls}}{\text{Total rolls}}

=\dfrac{3}{10}

Now , total rolls left = 9

Total defective rolls left = 2

Probability of selecting second defective roll = \dfrac{\text{Number of bad rolls}}{\text{Total rolls}}

=\dfrac{2}{9}

Now , the probability of selecting a defective roll followed by another defective roll = \dfrac{3}{10}\times\dfrac{2}{9}=\dfrac{1}{15}

Hence, the probability of selecting a defective roll followed by another defective roll is \dfrac{1}{15} .
