The name given to the policies and legislation he wanted in American society in order to ensure that they were equal for everyone of the Americans was Lyndon B Johnson's "Great Society" program. Racism still existed in the United States (especially the Southern countries) during his term of office and millions of Americans were living in poverty. His goal was to create federal programs to help make America a better society. The 1964 Civil Rights Act, which helped to abolishdivision in public facilities, would be an example of this.
