Hi Brainiac

Distribute

(5)(y)+(5)(-4)=(7)(2y)+(7)(1)

5y-20=14y+7

Now we need to subtract 14y from both sides

5y-20-14y=14y+7-14y

-9y-20=7

Now add 20

-9y-20+20=7+20

-9y=27

Divide both sides by -9 to both sides so we can find the value for y

-9y/-9= 27/-9

y= -3

I hope that's help:0

You roll two fair dice, a green one and a red one. (a) What is the probability of getting a sum of 6? (Enter your answer as a fr
Stels [109]

Answer:

5/36 ; 1/12 ; 2/9 ; yes

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the following :

Roll of two fair dice : green and red

Probability = (number of required outcomes / number of total possible outcomes)

(a) What is the probability of getting a sum of 6?

Number of required outcomes = 5

P(sum of 6) = 5/36

b.) What is the probability of getting a sum of 10?

Number of required outcomes = 3

P(sum of 10) = 3 / 36 = 1/12

c.) What is the probability of getting a sum of 6 or 10?

P(getting a sum of 6) + P(getting a sum of 10)

(5/36) + (1/12) = (5 + 3) / 36

= 8/36 = 2/9

The events are mutually exclusive because each event cannot occur at the same time.
