A ratio compares two numbers using a fraction. Ratios can be written three different ways: (1) 2 to 3 (2) 2:3 (3) 2/3 They all mean the same thing. Pretend I have a class of 25 students: 10 students are boys and 15 are girls

Ok we can simplify the ratio 10 and 15 by dividing both terms by the greatest common factor which is 5 Ok. So 10 divided by 5 is 2 and 15 divided by 5 is 3 therefore the answer is 2 : 3
