A point mutation in the mrna for an enzyme results in the replacement of leucine with alanine in the resulting enzyme molecule.

why does this change in amino acids have little effect on the biological activity of the enzyme?

The is because both are hydrophobic (due to their neutral side chains) and have approximately the same net charge. The isoelectric point of leucine at 25 degrees centigrade is 6.04 while that of alanine is 6.11.  Therefore, this mutation does not change the structure of the protein hence does not affect its function (if not considerably).

Drinking too much water during exercise can cause a condition in which the concentration of sodium in the blood is lower than no
OlgaM077 [116]

The right answer is Cells shrivel as water moves out of them.

Water intoxication (hyperhydration) occurs when too much water consumption causes a decrease in the concentration of electrolytes in the blood, partly because the electrolytes are eliminated in excessive amounts, on the other hand by increasing blood volume without sufficient electrolytes. When the intercellular (extracellular) medium is too diluted relative to the intracellular medium, the osmotic pressure induced by this difference can cause the cells concerned to explode (the cell wall ruptures under pressure), in the first place the nerve cells, which causes disorders brain that can be severe or even fatal.

Discuss the Conditions necessary to cause water to diffuse out of a cell
sammy [17]

When water molecules diffuse through a cell membrane this process is called the osmosis. Water molecules are extremely small and because of this they can slip freely through the gaps between the phospholipids in the cell membrane. And as a result, water molecules can constantly move back and forth though the cell <span>
membrane. This movement of water has a very important function and that is it enables cells to absorb water. </span>

Now for a movement of water molecules to happen, there should be a concentration gradient in the surrounding. That is, the amount of water in one side must be different on the other side.

<span>For water to diffuse INTO the cell, the amount of water outside the cell membrane should be larger than the amount of water inside the side.</span>

How is radar used to forecast weather
juin [17]

Answer:The Doppler radar used in weather forecasting measures the direction and speed, or velocity, of objects such as drops of precipitation. This is called the Doppler Effect and is used to determine whether movement in the atmosphere is horizontally toward or away from the radar, which aides in weather forecasting.
