She gave 1/3 of cookies for her husband 1/4 of the cookies to her son and 1/6 of a cookies to her neighbor she ate the remaining
beks73 [17]

She made 15 cookies

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Let "x" be the number of cookies she made

She gave 1/3 of cookies for her husband

Therefore,

Husband = \frac{1}{3}x

Find the remaining

Remaining = x - \frac{x}{3} = \frac{3x-x}{3} = \frac{2x}{3}

1/4 of the cookies to her son

Therefore,

son = \frac{1}{4} \times \frac{2x}{3} = \frac{x}{6}

Now again find the remaining

Remaining = \frac{2x}{3} - \frac{x}{6} = \frac{x}{2}

1/6 of a cookies to her neighbor

Neighbor = \frac{1}{6} \times \frac{x}{2} = \frac{x}{12}

Now again find the remaining

Remaining = \frac{x}{2} - \frac{x}{12} = \frac{5x}{12}

She ate the remaining six cookies

Therefore,

\frac{5x}{12} = 6\\\\5x = 72\\\\x = 14.4

Thus she made approximately 15 cookies
