x(x+2)=-5
add 5 to both sides
x(x+2)+5=0
x^2+2x+5=0


(2x-1)^2=1
expand
(2x-1)(2x-1)=1
4x^2-2x-2x+1=1
minus 1 from both sides
4x^2-4x=0
