Slope-intercept form:

y = mx + b

"m" is the slope, "b" is the y-intercept (the y value when x = 0, or (0,y))

For lines to be parallel, their slopes have to be the SAME.

The given line's slope is 4, so the parallel line's slope is also 4.

y = 4x + b

To find "b", plug in the point (-3,5) into the equation.

y = 4x + b

5 = 4(-3) + b

5 = -12 + b    Add 12 on both sides

17 = b

y = 4x + 17

During normal breathing, about 12% of the air in the
nekit [7.7K]

The original air present after 8 breaths will be equal to 179.81 ml.

What is an equation?

The equation in mathematics is the relationship between the variables and the number and establishes the relationship between the two or more variables.

It is given in the question that:-

During normal breathing, about 12% of the air in the lungs is replaced after one breath

If the initial amount of air in the lungs is 500 mL

how much of the original air is present after 8 breaths?

The calculation for the eduction of the air will be done by the following equation:-

\rm =Volume \ present\times (0.88)^n\\\\\\= 500\times (0.88)^8

=179.88 ml

Hence original air present after 8 breaths will be equal to 179.81 ml.

Jason is buying a home theater system on layaway for $349. If he makes a down payment of $25 and pays $54 each week will it take
Gekata [30.6K]
Hey!
First, you would take 349 and subtract 25 from it.(349-25=324) This gets rid of the down payment.
Next, you would divide 324 by 54. (324÷54=6)
It would take him 6 weeks!
Hope this helped! And make sure to check my calculations!
Godspeed

Answer: 16517 dollars

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that x is the number of years after 2000.

In 2005, the number of years x = 4

Because the equation was modelled for 4 year college courses

The best estimate for the average cost of tuition in 2005 will be

ŷ = 937.98(4) + 12,764.90

Y = 3751.92 + 12764.9

Y = 16516.82 dollars

Y = 16517 dollars
