The two critical elements to consider when determining a source's validity are the main idea and point of view

  • Since every individual has its own preferences, this is the major reason why a point of view is important. Through their preferences, the author quotes their sources, and what they want the reader to understand. Therefore, through own preferences, it helps in determining that no resource is perfect and that everyone possess individuality.
  • To understand author's main idea is also a critical element to be considered. It helps in comprehending the author's ideas and therefore, it helps the individual in understanding the topic through different sources.

Consider Dickinson’s poems "I Started Early—Took My Dog" and “Apparently with No Surprise.” Which topic do the two poems share?
Artyom0805 [142]

Both poems show the intensity of the forces of nature.

This can be seen because:

  • In "I Started Early—Took My Dog," the author shows the liveliness and influence of the sea. She does it as a metaphor for what a man would be able to do with her life.
  • In "Apparently with No Surprise," the author shows how frost is capable of killing a flower, without any mercy. She uses it to make a metaphor about the end of life.

Both poems portray the author's very deep thoughts, she had much stronger thoughts about life, death, and passions and for this reason used the force of nature to represent these thoughts.

Furthermore, it is necessary to emphasize that the topic of a poem is one of the subjects that the poem addresses.

Should A Person Be Acknowledged In Order To Have Accomplished Something
irga5000 [103]

Answer:

Well, it depends. Sometimes you can accomplish things for yourself. It might not be satisfying for some people to get no praise, but at least you can tell yourself you did something great. It also depends on the accomplishment. You might think something is good, but other people may not like it. My answer is most likely no, because it depends on what you are accomplishing and it doesn't matter what people think of it, because, to you, it is an accomplishment. To other people, what you do might not be an accomplishment, but you sort of have to decide for yourself what is an accomplishment and what is not.

Anyway, I have a question. Is this for personal reasons, or for school?
