Answer/Explanation:

The Western Schism (also known as the Papal Schism) was a split within the Catholic Church that lasted from 1378-1417. During that extended amount of time, three men all claimed to be the pope.

The Western Schism was solved in 1417 by the Roman Catholic church who held numerous councils, and declared the throne to be empty dismissing the 3 men that claimed it in order for Pope Martin V to be elected

The Europeans in the Caribbean felt the need to bring in enslaved Africans as laborers because the native American Indian workers had become physically weak due to diseases and the Caribbean plantations were in requirement of stronger labor force. The Africans by birth were very strong and they as slaves would perfectly suit the needs of the Caribbean plantations.
