The difference between a restrictive phrase and a restrictive clause can be determined if you break down the parts of speech. It is a clause if there is a subject and verb with a predicate. It is a phrase if there is a noun but no verb or a verb but no noun, and it does not have a predicate.

Which of the following has four, eight and one nine?
Nonamiya [84]

Question:

Which of the following has four, eight and one nine? Justify your answer.

A) 88889

B) 4819

C) 888819

D) 489

Answer:

The correct answer is D

Explanation:

The question is a geared at evaluating the ability of the reader to comprehend the effect of punctuations.

Four eights would be figure 4 in eight places. This is not the intended meaning of the writer. So options A and C are out of the equation.

One nine refers to a single figure 9 and not nineteen. This also removes B from the equation. So we are left with D.

Cheers!
