Find how many terms of a geometric progression 1+3+9 are required to make a total of more than 1 million.

The partial sum of a geometric sequence is

\displaystyle \sum_{i=0}^N a^i = \dfrac{a^{N+1}-1}{a-1}

In your case a=3, so if we sum N terms of the sequence we have

\displaystyle \sum_{i=0}^N 3^i = \dfrac{3^{N+1}-1}{2}

We want this to me more than 1 million, so we have

\dfrac{3^{N+1}-1}{2}>1000000 \iff 3^{N+1}-1>2000000 \iff 3^{N+1} > 1999999

Considering the log (base 3) of both sides, we have

N+1>\log_3(1999999)\iff N>\log_3(1999999)-1 approx 12.2

So, starting from N=13, the sum of the first N terms will be more than 1 million

Jerry can frame a room in 1 hour, while Jake takes 4 hours. How long would it take for them to frame a room working together?
Anon25 [30]

Answer:

45 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

If two people work together, the time it takes to frame will obviously be shorter. Since Jake Takes four times longer, he will only cut off a fourth of Jerry's time. Which is 15 mins. 60 mins - 15 mins = 45 mins.

Susan just got a promotion that increased her annual salary from $52,000 to $68,000. Susan's monthly expenses included a mortgag
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

c. Susan's debt-to-income ratio decreased by about 15%

Step-by-step explanation:

Susan's previous salary = $52,000

Susan's new salary = $68,000

Susan's mortgage = $1,500

The total of three minimum credit card payment = $350

Her lease payment = $280

Her student loan payment = $250

Her personal loan payment = $325

Therefore, her total debt = $1,500 + $350 + $280 + $250 + $325 = $2,705

Her new Debt to loan ratio = (Her total deb)/(Her total new income) = 2705/68000 = 3.9779 %

Her previous to loan ratio = (Her total deb)/(Her total previous income) = 2705/52000 = 5.2%

The percentage change in her debt to income ratio = (5.202 - 3.9779)/5.202 ≈ 23% decrease

Therefore, the best option is Susan's debt-to-income ratio decreased by about 15%.

Draw and label the circle given by the equation (x - 5 + y + 10 = 6^2
Oxana [17]

Answer:

See attachment for circle

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

(x -5)^2 + (y + 10)^2 = 6^2

Required

Draw and label the circle

The equation of a circle is:

(x -a)^2 + (y - b)^2 = r^2

Where:

Center = (a,b)

Radius = r

So, we have:

Center = (5,-10)

Radius = 6
