This epic poem was written probably in the 12th century, and gather some of the traditional German tales and songs from the pre-Christian Era. The Song of the Nibelungs is structured into two parts, both telling the story of the hero Sigfried since his born until his disgrace and death. Richard Wagner transformed this epic story into an opera, creating a Saga that, one way or another, attempts to tell the story of the formation of German people.
