People who don’t know Harry tend to underestimate him. They cast a skeptical eye on his typical outfit: ragged jeans and shirts

that bear evidence of his most recent meal. And his most frequently uttered expression, “Waaaal, I just don’t know,” can make him sound less than bright. So, some enter a negotiating session with Harry relaxed and confident that their side will prevail and that Harry will gain no concessions for his group. That assumption is one that Harry cultivates, and it is a big, big mistake. What kind of technique does an author use to show a character’s traits through that character’s dialogue? A. symbolism and irony B. point of view C. direct characterization D. indirect characterization

I believe it's C because the author is directing the traits at the character in this case Harry.

Which aspects of a story best help the reader understand the author's purpose? Select three options
swat32

Answer:

Tone, Plot, and Imagery.

Explanation:

These would be the answers because; tone allows the reader into the trance of the novel allowing them to truly understand the meaning behind the story or scene. Plot lets the reader know what is happening throughout the story, without the plot, the book wouldn't make any logical sense. Imagery, some people have a hard time imagining the story in their head on their own. Most authors use imagery to draw the reader's attention to what's really happening throughout the story ad allows them to create that mental picture for themselves. These all create a whole new atmosphere for the reader and help you better understand the author's purpose.

Hey, I’m participating in an imagery writing contest at school, and the theme is Love and Longing. Does anyone have any ideas on
slamgirl [31]

Love and Longing...     Longing can be expressed as a feeling of wanting or missing something. Say you have a really good expensive video game you want but you can not have, the feeling of wanting the video game and knowing you can not have it would be longing.

As for your story, I can bet you $10 that almost every one is going to have a Romeo and Juliet, because it is one of the most famous Love and Longing stories out there. So I would think outside the box. Say you really like chocolate but you can have it anymore because they don't make it anymore. Or go with the video game theme and say they brand new video game that has come out is only for VR, but you don't have VR, oh!! And say the video game is a sequale to a super good game. Something silly that does not have to do with you walling for the boy/girl/it next door.

XOXO
