The American continent is geographically inaccessible and secluded, separated by two oceans from any other countries.
This made colonization (or invading a country) of North America which possibly only through a sea. That removed and eradicated nations with large armies as threats. The only power that could influence North America was a nation with a powerful and tough navy, like England’s.
To our north countries like, Canada was resolved by the French, who were our alliances. To the south was Mexico, South America, and Central America.
Thus, at the start, North America had a geographic superiority against any conquering force: distance across an ocean. However, the United States of America can grow and establish their own identities separately from their parent and other countries.
It helped lots of people realize the importance of equality.
Hello! Your answer is isolationist.
China in the 17th century was the late Ming dynasty and the early Qing dynasty. The Ming dynasty was an isolationist government - they periodically banned private shipping, burned privately owned ships, and drove the population away from the coastline. Essentially, they disliked foreigners and their influences (including trade) and weren't afraid to show it. The Qing dynasty continued these types of policies as well.
Japan in the 17th century was also isolationist. In the mid 17th century, a policy called the kaikin was enforced. This prohibited foreign contact with most outside countries (however some trade and diplomatic relationships were still carried out). This was only removed in the mid 19th century.
