Which of the following is not a tool that can be used in a true Geometric construction? a)Protractor b)Compass c)Straightedge
AleksAgata [21]

Answer:

A) Protractor

Step-by-step explanation:

In Mathematics, geometric constructions refers to the drawing of geometric shapes, lines and angles with the exclusive aid of a pencil, straightedge/ruler and a pair of compass.

The pencil is the major drawing tool during the construction while the pair of compass and straightedge are used to construct arcs/circles and straight lines respectively. Note that, a PROTRACTOR is not needed in a geometric construction because length or angle measurements are prohibited.

If x^2+1/x^2=3 find the value of x^2/(x^2+1)^2<br> Express answer as a common fraction.<br> Thanks!!
timama [110]

x^2+\dfrac1{x^2}=3\implies x^4+1=3x^2\implies x^4-3x^2+1=0

By the quadratic formula,

x^2=\dfrac{3\pm\sqrt5}2\implies x^2+1=\dfrac{5\pm\sqrt5}2

Then

(x^2+1)^2=\dfrac{25\pm10\sqrt5+5}4=\dfrac{15\pm5\sqrt5}2

\implies\dfrac{x^2}{(x^2+1)^2}=\dfrac{\frac{3\pm\sqrt5}2}{\frac{15\pm5\sqrt5}2}=\dfrac{3\pm\sqrt5}{15\pm5\sqrt5}

Multiply numerator and denominator by the denominator's conjugate:

\dfrac{3\pm\sqrt5}{15\pm5\sqrt5}\cdot\dfrac{15\mp5\sqrt5}{15\mp5\sqrt5}=\dfrac{45\pm15\sqrt5\mp15\sqrt5-25}{15^2-(5\sqrt5)^2}=\dfrac{20}{100}=\dfrac15

Number 3 plzzzzzzzzz
zhenek [66]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm pretty sure some smart guy in Greece noticed this but:

Since 4 + 8 = 12, thats the only option where 2 of the smaller sides add up to the big one. I don't know much of the reasoning behind this but my math teacher showed it to us by using Popsicle sticks to make triangles. You can try it if that helps you think about it. Apparently, if you add up the 2 smaller sides, then it HAS to be more than the biggest side.
