The correct answer is: False. The Chernobyl explosion caused serious damage to the environment. It was a catastrophic accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 in Ukraine (in that time, the part of the Soviet Union), and it released four hundred times more radioactive material than atomic bombing of Hiroshima. One of the major problems after the explosion was contamination of aquatic system. Namely, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was located next to the Pripyat River, which feeds into the Dnieper reservoir system, which at the time supplied water to Kiev's 2.4 million residents. After the disaster, also, <span>four square kilometers of pine forest turned to reddish-brown and died, and earned the name: "Red Forest"...</span>
