There are essential evidentiary rules that monitor what information jurors can receive and what they can say about a case during trial. People are expected to resist any case related communication when they serve as jurors.

Some courts have even banned electronic devices in the courtroom and jury room, but jurors still have internet access when they leave the court.

If a juror either seeks, or is unwittingly exposed to information about the trial, or he expresses opinions regarding the case on social media, a fair trial can not be guaranteed.

In the future, internet access will probably become even more difficult to restrain, so focusing on appropriate juror's education might be useful.
