Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer:

1. Council members deplored the outbreak of violence in areas close to schools.

2. Several of the old buildings still retained the ornate ceilings and banisters that were typical of the eighteenth century.

3. During economic hardships, most people find prodigal spenders offensive.

Explanation:

The corresponding and appropriate vocabulary for the bolded words in the given sentences are changed as follows-

1. In replacing "grumbled about" with "deplored", they imply the same attitude but with much more strong opposition. While mere grumbling may suggest complaints and disinterest, 'deplored' gives a sense of strongly disapproving of the plan.

2. The word "stylish" can be replaced by "ornate" as they both imply the same decorative sense of the ceiling. But at the same time, "ornate" gives the sense of a more beautiful, better-decorated piece than the simple word "stylish".

3. The word "big" in describing the spenders is plain and can just describe any shopper who spends a lot. But the use of "prodigal" in describing the spenders gives the sense of unnecessary spending. This word gives more voice to the disapproving tone about such spenders.

Examine the character portrait of Dante the Pilgrim in Inferno. In what ways does this character reflect qualitles of the
viva [34]

The most important difference between the poet Dante and the man or woman or pilgrim Dante is that the author is much less sympathetic to the sinners in the circles of Hell than is the individual.

The poet Dante glaringly wrote the Inferno; he created the circles of Hell, determining which sins had been the "worst" and which symbolic punishments would be paired with every sin. Dante chooses to punish the traitors within the 9th circle, the worst of.

Dante become an Italian poet and moral truth seeker great known for the epic poem The Divine Comedy, which comprises sections representing the 3 stages of the Christian afterlife: purgatory, heaven and hell. The plot of The Divine Comedy is straightforward: a person, typically assumed to be Dante himself, is miraculously enabled to adopt an ultra journey, which leads him to go to the souls in Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise.

Write sentences to explain the purpose of stress, rhythm, pausing and phrasing as a paralingustic features
Amiraneli [1.4K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Paralanguage includes accent, pitch, volume, speech rate, modulation, and fluency. Some researchers also include certain non-vocal phenomena under the heading of paralanguage: facial expressions, eye movements, hand gestures, and the like. "The boundaries of paralanguage," says Peter Matthews, "are (unavoidably) imprecise."

Although paralinguistics was once described as the "neglected stepchild" in language studies, linguists and other researchers have recently demonstrated greater interest in the field.

The novel is the outsiders
finlep [7]
I don't really understand the poem. I can tell you a couple of thing about the poem that remind me of the outsiders. In the outsiders Ponyboy and the other kid (his name escapes me) ran away after he stabbed another kid. This reminded me of when the poem said "They'd banish -- you know!" because the reason they ran away is so they wouldn't get arreste so I think being banished is sort of like being arrested. I hope I helped. Please give me the brainliest.
