How how does montesquieu suggest that each branch should limit the power of the others
MakcuM [25]
Hello!

Montesquieu influenced the idea of Separation of Powers, which is currently used in the United States as a form of governmental balance.

The Separation of Powers limits each governmental branch with the purpose of preventing a dictatorship. Currently, the U.S. government is divided into three branches: the Legislative branch (includes the House and the Senate), the Executive branch (the president), and the Judicial branch (the courts). The Separation of Powers works as checks and balances. This means that if one branch gains more power than it should have, the other two branches can prevent it from gaining too much power. Each branch has a specific purpose that it must maintain.

Montesquieu concluded that the best way to prevent government corruption was to productively divide it. This idea was picked up by the United States and is still in effect today.

I hope this helps you!
