Well I don't know about "poisonous" per se, but in sickle cell anemia, when serious clotting crises occur, the victim must get infused with fresh blood and sometimes plasmaphoresis (filtering out tiny clots). This can also occur with other severe clotting disorders.
But in total renal failure, the kidneys shut down and stop filtering wastes and excess electrolytes from the blood into urine for removal, then metabolic wastes (urea, uric acid, creatinine) and minerals build up, and must be dialyzed out by machines and filters. Uremia, urea waste build-up, and hyperkalemia (excessive blood potassium) can become so severe as to be life-threatening.

4. Which of the following is true regarding the pancreas?
eduard

Answer:

The true statement regarding the pancreas is that pancreas secretes sodium bicarbonate (option D).

Explanation:

The pancreas is a gland that performs both exocrine and endocrine functions. Within its exocrine function this gland can secrete a solution formed by water and sodium bicarbonate.

The secretion of pancreatic sodium bicarbonate is carried out from the ductal and central cells, providing a hydroelectrolytic solution useful for attenuating stomach acid at the level of the duodenum.

The other options are not correct because:

     A. Trypsin is an enzyme that is responsible for breaking the pethidic bonds of porters, and not carbohydrates.

     B. Pancreatic amylase acts on carbohydrates, not fats.

     C. Lipase in pancreatic juice acts on fats, not on sugars or carbohydrates.

love history [14]
There are many things that Lara can do in order to reduce the stress she is feeling after a tiresome day at work. For example, she could go and rest a bit, just sleep for a couple of hours and forget about the world. She could also read a book, or watch a movie/TV show, or play video games, if she is into that. She could do yoga, or go to a spa, or just hang out with her friends who are going to help her forget about her stressful day. Hope this helps!
