"Miantonomoh" was also known as "Miantonomi." He was regarded the chief of Narragansett people during the English colonization. He was initially supportive of the "Pequot War" (the war between the colonists and the Pequot tribe).

Later on, Miantonomi became concerned about the further expansion of the English colonies and the new settlements that were being founded. This upset him. He then approached Wyandanch (an influential alliance chief) and persuade him to have a surprise attack to the newly established English villages. This resulted to Miantonomi's being suspected as treacherous to the English colonists.
