First, determine the domain: x ≥ 0 (because you can't square root a negative)

Next, square both sides of the equation and solve for "x".

(√x)² < (5)²

+/- x < 25

+x < 25        -x < 25

x< 25           x > -25  ⇒ Remember the domain is x ≥ 0

x < 25   and  x ≥ 0 ⇒ 0 ≤ x

Answer: 0 ≤ x < 25    interval notation [0, 25)

The graph shows the probability distribution of a random variable.
Natasha2012 [34]
The answer is 0.50.

P(4<=X<=8)=P(x=4)+ P(x=5)+ P(x=6)+ P(x=7)+ P(x=8)= 0.05+ 0.15+0.15+0.15 +0 = 0.50

Notice that in 8 the line touches the x axis so it’s corresponding probability is 0.
