Robert is purchasing some equipment for his baseball team. He wants to buy some baseballs, each priced at m dollars. He has alre

ady spent b dollars on other equipment.
The following expression represents the total amount Robert will spend after buying x baseballs.

If the amount already spent by Robert on other equipment, b dollars, is doubled, then the value of m will ______________________.

If the cost of each baseball, m dollars, is tripled, then the value of b will_________________ and the value of mx will _______________________.

Answer:

1. The following expression represents the total amount Robert will spend after buying x baseballs:

 • y = mx + b

2. If the amount already spent by Robert on other equipment, b dollars, is doubled, then the value of m will:

 • remain the same (m)

3. If the cost of each baseball, m dollars, is tripled, then the value of b will remain the same (b) and the value of mx will be tripled (3mx)

Explanation:

1. Since the price of one baseball is m, the cost of x baseballs is m times x: mx.

Since he has already spent b dollars on other equipment, to calculate the total amount spent after buying x balls, you have to add both the value spent of other equibment (b) and the value of x balls (mx), thus the expresssion that represents the total amounf Robert will spend is:

 • mx + b

2. If the amount already spent by Robert on other equipment, b dollars, is doubled, then the value of m does not change, because it is the price of each baseball, which is a constant unit price.

3. If the cost of each baseball, m dollars, is tripled, then the value of b does not change, because it is an amount calculated from the purchase of other equiment and not baseballs.

As per the value of mx, since the new price is the triple, instead of m it will be 3m, and you have to use 3mx instead of mx.

Graph the inequality. x + 2y > 4
zalisa [80]

Answer:

The graph in the attached figure

Step-by-step explanation:

we have

x+2y > 4

Isolate the variable y

subtract x both sides

2y > -x+4

Divide by 2 both sides

y > -\frac{1}{2}x+2

The solution of the inequality is the shaded area above the dashed line

y=-\frac{1}{2}x+2

The slope of the dashed line is negative

The y-intercept of the dashed line is (0,2)

The x-intercept of the dashed line is (4,0)

therefore

The graph in the attached figure

PLWASE HELP ME ON THE PHOTO ATTACHED ASAP
professor190 [17]

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

Start by making the fraction easier to subtract by making the fraction an improper fraction. Multiply 7 by 3 and add it to 2, making the first fraction 23/3. For the second fraction, multiple 3 by 6 and add it to 1 to make it 19/6. 23/3 - 19/6 still cannot be subtracted so you have to multiply the first fraction by 2. 23 times 2 is 46, so the fraction is now 46/6 minus 19/6. 49 - 19 = 30. 30/6 = 5 because six can go into 30 5 times.
