Answer : Answer :f(x) = x^2 + 4x + 3 \ and \ f(x) = -2x^2 - 8x + 1

Given: axis of symmetry of x = –2

To find axis of symmetry we use formula x =\frac{-b}{2a}

We check which equation has axis of symmetry x= -2

(1) f(x) = x^2 + 4x + 3

a=1 , b=4 so axis of symmetry x =\frac{-4}{2*1} = -2

(2) f(x) = x^2 - 4x - 5

a=1 , b=-4 so axis of symmetry x =\frac{-(-4)}{2*1} = 2

(3) f(x) = x^2 + 6x + 2

a=1 , b=6 so axis of symmetry x =\frac{-6}{2*1} = -3

(4) f(x) = -2x^2 - 8x + 1

a=-2 , b=-8 so axis of symmetry x =\frac{-(-8)}{2*(-2)} = -2

(5) f(x) = -2x^2 + 8x - 2

a=-2 , b=8 so axis of symmetry x =\frac{-(8)}{2*(-2)} = 2

So f(x) = x^2 + 4x + 3 and f(x) = -2x^2 - 8x + 1 has axis of symmetry x=-2

Solve for x<br> Y= x-v/b
andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

x=y+v/b

Step-by-step explanation:

So first you have y=x-v/b. You want to isolate x, so subtract x from both sides. You'll get -x+y=-v/b. Next, you're going to want to subtract y to further isolate x now that it's on the left side. Now you'll have -x=-y-v/b. But you don't want x to be negative, so you can divide both sides by -1 to make x positive. Now you'll have x=y+v/b.

What equation is the inverse of y=2x^2-8?
Fynjy0 [20]

Step-by-step explanation:

To get the inverse, swap the x- and y-variables, then solve for y. We should have the equation: x = 2y^2 - 8

Solving for y:

y = 2x^{2} - 8    because  y + 8 = 2x^{2} or  x =\sqrt\frac{y +  8}{2}

So on interchanging the variable, we get the equation:

x = 2y^2 - 8

x + 8 = 2y^2

y = \sqrt\frac{x + 8}{2}
