On first down, a football team had a loss of 8 yards. After two downs, the team had an overall gain of 20 yards. How many yards
mihalych1998 [28]
They’ve started out with 0yds of course so, -8yds on the first down. They’ve gained 20yds overall in both downs. You’re now trying to find “x”. -8+x=20. To find “x”, you do 20+8 because the 8 is negative and you would lose numbers in order to get 20, so “x” equals 28. Therefore, you’ve gained 28 yds in the second down and lost 8 yds in the first down.

I really, really hoped that helped. It took awhile to figure out, but I’m sure I’ve got it now.

K+5/3=-7/4 (those are fractions) also can you show your work?
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

-3 5/12=k

Step-by-step explanation:

K+5/3= -7/4

subtract 5/3 from both sides

K= -7/4-5/3

lcm of 4 and 3 is 12

so

K= -21/12-20/12

K= -41/12

K= -3 5/12

Need help with this question
posledela

Answer:

QR = 82.38 to nearest hundredth.

Step-by-step explanation:

As they are similar corresponding sides are in the same ratio.

So MN / QR = LM / QR

13/51 = 21/ QR

`3QR = 51*21

QR = 51*21/13

QR = 82.38

True [87]

The value of 5 ∙ 23 is 115.

The small dot is typically used as a multiplication symbol. When we multiply these two numbers the result is 115.

B is the midpoint of AC and E' is the midpoint of BD. If A(-9,-4), C(-1, 6), and E(-4,-3), find the coordinates of D.
Ipatiy [6.2K]
The coordinates for D are (-4, -7)

First we must locate point B as it is vital to finding the midpoint of BD. To do this, we take the average of the endpoints AC since B is its midpoint.

x values = -9 + 1 = -8
Then divide by 2 for the average -8/2 = -4

y values = -4 + 6 = 2
Then divide by 2 for the average 2/2 = 1

Therefore B must be (-4, 1)

Now we know the values of E must be the average of B and D. So we can write equations for each coordinate since we know they are averages.

x - values = (Bx + Dx)/2 = Ex
(-4 + Dx)/2 = -4 ---> multiply both sides by 2
-4 + Dx = -8 ---> add -4 to both sides
Dx = -4

y - values = (By + Dy)/2 = Ey
(1 + Dy)/2 = -3 ---> multiply both sides by 2
1 + Dy = -6 ---> subtract 1 from both side
Dy = -7

So the coordinates for D must be (-4, -7)
