An imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest.
A Roman legion (from Latin legio "military levy, conscription", from legere "to choose") normally indicates the basic ancient Roman army unit recruited specifically from Roman citizens. In reference to the early Roman Kingdom (as opposed to the Roman Republic or Empire), "the legion" means the entire Roman army.
The Speaker of the House is next in line because the House of Representatives was traditionally seen as the "people's house" or the most Democratic house. It wasn't until the early 20th Century that the Senate was elected by the people directly, so the leader of the more Democratic house was a fairer pick in the line of succession.
