Casualties as in deaths were 17 million. 11 of which were military death and 7 million were civilians. 38 million including injuries so in this case 38/3

From what I remember, children in Sparta were pushed towards military. If a child was found to be weak, then they were left for dead. In Athens, they were pushed towards academics and arts. I think that's the main difference.
