A company maintains a fleet of vehicles that consist of both cars and trucks. The miles per gallon realized in the cars follows

a normal distribution with mean of 30 and a standard deviation of 2 while the miles per gallon realized in the trucks follows a normal distribution with mean of 17 with a standard deviation of 3.Which distribution is more variable?

Answer:

Let X the random variable that represent the miles per gallon in cars of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(30,2)

Where \mu=30 and \sigma=2

We can calculate the coeffcient of variation for this cae like this:

CV= \frac{\sigma}{\bar X}= \frac{2}{30}= 0.0667=6.7\%

Let Y the random variable that represent the miles per gallon in trucks of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(17,3)

Where \mu=17 and \sigma=3

We can calculate the coeffcient of variation for this cae like this:

CV= \frac{\sigma}{\bar X}= \frac{3}{17}= 0.176=17.6\%

So then we can conclude that the mpg for trucks have more variation since the coefficient of variation is larger than the value obtained for cars.

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The Z-score is "a numerical measurement used in statistics of a value's relationship to the mean (average) of a group of values, measured in terms of standard deviations from the mean".

Solution to the problem

Let X the random variable that represent the miles per gallon in cars of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(30,2)

Where \mu=30 and \sigma=2

We can calculate the coeffcient of variation for this cae like this:

CV= \frac{\sigma}{\bar X}= \frac{2}{30}= 0.0667=6.7\%

Let Y the random variable that represent the miles per gallon in trucks of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(17,3)

Where \mu=17 and \sigma=3

We can calculate the coeffcient of variation for this cae like this:

CV= \frac{\sigma}{\bar X}= \frac{3}{17}= 0.176=17.6\%

So then we can conclude that the mpg for trucks have more variation since the coefficient of variation is larger than the value obtained for cars.

Find the polar coordinates of the point that has rectangular coordinates (-3,3*sqrt of 3) write your answer using degrees. THANK
SSSSS [86.1K]
X = -3
y = 3*sqrt(3)

r = sqrt(x^2 + y^2)
r = sqrt((-3)^2 + (3*sqrt(3))^2)
<span>r = sqrt(9+27)
</span><span>r = sqrt(36)
</span>r = 6

theta = arctan(y/x)
<span>theta = arctan(3sqrt(3)/(-3))
</span>theta = arctan(-sqrt(3))
theta = -60 degrees which is coterminal to 300 degrees

So the polar form is (r,theta) = (6, 300)

eloise is designing a triangular flag is it possible to design more than one flag with side length of 27 inches in 40 inches and
earnstyle [38]

Answer: Yes it is possible to design more than one flag with these lengths because the  two smaller side lengths 27 and 40 is greater than 50 which is the larger side length.

Type the integer that makes the following subtraction sentence true:<br><br> – 4 = -12
umka2103 [35]
I'll do something similar to this, and I challenge you to do this on your own!

<something>-7=-34
Making that something equal to x, we have x-7=-34. Adding 7 to both sides using the addition property of equality (and to separate the x), we have
-34+7=x=-27

Good luck, and feel free to ask with any further questions!
